Mussels from Galician Rivers

The process of preserving them begins during the selection process to acquire only the highest quality ingredients. Conservas Serrats acquires mussels from Rivers in Galicia at the optimal moment when they have reached their peak flavour and an appropriate size. We only produce large mussels (6-8 pieces per can) that require a long time to mature. Their consumption has a large portion of protein (20,15 gr. per every 100gr.) and is recommended for diets of physically active people. Mussels in pickling sauce can be used in hundreds of recipes and make an excellent appetizer.

Both kids and adults love puff pastry stuffed with tuna; But the recipe for kids sent by Dea adds a presentation that makes it even more attractive. She also tells she had a blast making puff pastry piglets with her 6-year-old goddaughter, and that they are both excited to send us their work of art.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: in a bowl, mix the drained tuna, the hard-boiled egg cut into small strips, the ratatouille and the grated cheese.
  2. Cut the puff pastry into an even number of circles, with the help of a glass or a small plate (depending on the desired size).
  3. Place the filling in the middle of one half of the circles without reaching the edges.
  4. Brush the edges with beaten egg and cover with the other half of the puff pastry circles. Make sure bottom circles are aligned with the top ones and crush the edges so they stick together. These will be the pigs' faces.
  5. With a smaller glass, cut as many small circles as pig faces you have from the remaining dough. These will be the pigs’ snouts, so you have to make two holes for the nostrils.
  6. Place the snouts on top of the faces (brush some egg to make them stick).
  7. Form the eyes with olives and the ears with pieces of puff pastry.
  8. Brush everything with egg.
  9. Cover a baking dish with baking paper, place the piglets on top, and place in the preheated oven at 200 º C until golden brown (about 20-25 minutes).

Mari participates in our I Recipe contest for kids with a colorful sausage star. She tells us that her kids have a lot of fun making these stars and that they love eating them. They are surely delicious, and with the touch of tuna in the filling, we could even say they are "starfish"!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cut the sausages in half, lengthwise and leaving a junction point on one end. With a toothpick, open it in a V-shape and place them forming a star.
  2. In a bowl, mash the previously boiled potatoes.
  3. In the bowl with the potatoes, add an egg, parsley, chives and light tuna. Season to taste and mix everything.
  4. Fill in the stars with the mixture.
  5. Add mozzarella cheese to taste.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes at 180ºc.
  7. Take out from the oven and remove the toothpicks.
