At Serrats, we collect the Cockles, one by one, in the Galician Rías, and we handcraft them with all the care that this precious product requires. Thanks to that, we make our canned Cockles an exquisite gourmet preserve. We present to you one of the kings of the aperitif.

The cockle (Cerastoderma edule) is one of the best-known and most prized bivalve molluscs. Cockles from the Galician Rías are famous for their superior quality, taste of the sea, and meaty texture. They are carefully selected to offer an unparalleled gastronomic experience.
Cockles are an excellent source of iron (more than lentils), calcium, iodine, and phosphorus. In addition, they provide vitamin B12 and are very low in fat and calories, making them ideal for a balanced and healthy diet.
They are harvested by hand, mainly on foot by female shellfish gatherers or from small boats in the sandbanks of the Galician rías. This technique respects the seabed and ensures the sustainability of the resource.
The best specimens are selected, meticulously purged with natural seawater to remove sand, and then steamed. They are then packed by hand in their own cooking broth to preserve all their natural flavour.
Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Once the tin is opened, it is recommended to consume immediately or keep refrigerated in a suitable container, covered in its liquid, for a maximum of 24 hours.
They are perfect on their own as a gourmet appetiser with a squeeze of lemon. They also enrich frutti di mare pasta dishes, pulse salads, or soupy seafood rice dishes.
