What are the differences between canned and glass jar preserves?

What are the differences between canned and glass jar preserves?

The preservation process is the same for cans and glass jars, but each container has its own characteristics.

Find out the differences between canned and glass jar preserves, the two containers used in Serrats.

Canned preserves

Glass jar preserves

Canned preserves facilitates the use of packaging machines.

The glass transparency requires a particularly cautious presentation and manual packaging. The difference with the can is mostly in the way of cutting the flesh. Once clean, the cooked longfinned tuna fillet is cut manually at the desired height. Depending on the size of the jar, the longfinned tuna fillets are processed in a longitudinal manner and are then introduced one by one, manually, inside the jars.

Cans provide a total protection to the content.

Glass or crystal containers have the advantage of allowing to see the content.

They are very convenient for presentation and storage.

They are less convenient for presentation and storage.

They are lighter and resistant to shock.

They are heavier and more exposed to shocks.

Once opened, they allows a shorter storage time.

Onces opened, they allow a longer storage time (refrigerated).

It is important to note that these preserves, in both formats, improve over time. If you wish to try our preserves in their different containers, you will find all our products, both canned and in glass jars.
